I love this time of year. The time between the pre-holiday season and winter.
I love the changing of green leaves to different colors: reds, golds, and oranges. I love the description of a harvest moon, and how summer melts into Indian summer. I love the sound of leaves crunching beneath my feet, the smell of a faraway fire, the feel of a pumpkin in my hands. I love the taste of just ripened apples, the sounds of Canadian geese on their yearly migration to the south, and the sound of an evening owl hooting nearby, the one living in the nearby microwave tower. I love the fragrance of someone's just plowed fall garden, the anticipation of a New year, the cool afternoones, that end when the sunsets its firery display like a jewel in the evening sky. I love the description of the first evening star, and sitting on a patio close to an outdoor fireplace.
Yes, I love this time of year. The time to reflect on the year I've just experienced, the knowledge that though there was tragedy, there was also joy and triumph.
I love the transition of Autumn. The promise of a new life and a coming spring.
I love the taste of chili on a chilly evening, the sounds of children trick-or-treating, the love that this time brings. I love the fellowship of friends, the laughter of someone special, the age I am now. I love the things that Autumn brings. The just-right weather, the peaceful nights, the time to relax before the hectic holiday season. Yes, I love this time of year.
Very good. Very descriptive.
I am one of those who, when they feel fall in the air, think of frozen wastelands, ice storms and winter.
But, your poem reminded me of the finer things of autumn.
Thanks.
Bob
Your poem was more articulate than I can be, but I echo the sentiments. I love fall. It's a time of renewal, a refreshing change of seasons, bringing crisper cooler evenings. I love apple cider and cinnamon this time of year. I enjoy the spring too, but feel the changes of the season more with fall.
Hi Jag. Well, this time of year is more relaxing to me than summer. It just seems to be the right time to do stuff. Couldn't ask for a better time.
